Chip here,
So I've been to my fair share of concerts since my dad does audio/visual work for a bunch of mainstream artists and I decided to go through some of my favorite concerts with you guys.
Number 3.
Maroon 5 back in 2010 when they were touring doing all the hits from the early 2000s and their newer songs from their V record. Great concert, I actually ran in to Adam Levine and the band backstage looking for my dad! Really down to Earth and kind people, made the experience that much better.
Number 2.
Nelly opening for the Backstreet Boys, who opened for Florida Georgia Line back in 2017. This lineup was crazy. I walk into the venue with My Grill playing and then Hot in Here came on and I've never seen a country crowd dance like that haha! Great performance by Nelly, really working the crowd to get a good performance out of people who don't generally listen to his music. Backstreet Boys turned the Lakewood Amphitheater into a giant sing along with the classics. Then FGL came out and performed, but in the middle of the performance they sung two of the most entertaining songs I've ever heard. I need you guys to look up FGL - Turnt. Just trust me.
Number 1.
One of my best friends Mark and his wife Audrey took me to go see Five Finger Death Punch back in 2019. This was the first rock concert I'd ever been to, and I didn't know I had been missing out all these years. The energy of the entire venue was crazy. The concert happened in Charleston, and I forgot we were in one of the most relaxed cities in the world once we entered. Fist from God went first, they were pretty good and warmed the crowd up for Bad Wolves. Now for those of you who don't know, Bad Wolves has exclusive rights to perform the hit song Zombie originally made by the Cranberries. The reason is that Bad Wolves recorded a cover of the pop song and turned it into a metal version, which is pretty great. The song was so good, the lead singer from Cranberries Dolores O'Riordan decided to come out and record a version with both singers, but during her album recording and trying to make time for the collaboration with Bad Wolves she passed away. The band gave Bad Wolves the go ahead to perform Zombie to keep the song alive after the band broke up. ALL OF THAT EXPLINATION TO SAY THEY KILLED THAT SONG! So now we are already hyped and Three Days Grace comes out. This is a must see band. They've been around for so long they have perfect chemistry and know exactly how to work a crowd, not to mention I know all of their songs from my edgy high school days. Hands down the best show I've been a part of. Then Five Finger came out and took us until midnight with mosh pits and a wall of death all while taking breaks to explain why they make music and continue to perform. Overall a fantastic experience and that one concert has inspired me to add a Metallica concert with my friends to my bucket list.
So there are my choices! Feel free to put your own below! Any genre is accepted and make sure to point out what made that concert stand out above the rest!
